Many Park Home sites are registered as businesses where the site owners acts as a reseller of power. In such cases, you should always ask for copies of the bill received by the park owner` from their own power supplier. This is to check that the correct tariff has been applied - and also that you are not being charged more than the VAT rate of 5%.
You should also check whether those bills include a Climate Charge Levy because this cannot be passed on to you.
EXPLANATION:
The Climate Charge Levy (CCL) is a UK environmental tax on energy (electricity, gas, solid fuels) used by businesses in the industrial, commercial, agricultural, and public service sectors to encourage energy efficiency and reduce emissions. It appears as a separate charge on business energy bills ( with rates set to rise to 0.801p/kWh for both electricity and gas from 1 April 2026.)
However, Climate Change Levy (CCL) generally does not apply to energy used in caravans, as they are classified as domestic, residential, or self-catering holiday accommodation. Electricity and gas supplied to caravans and related site facilities are exempt from this tax.
Moreover, If a park is considered "mixed use" but over 60% of its energy is for "domestic" components (like caravans), the site may qualify for a 5% reduced VAT rate and 100% exemption from CCL.
If you discover you`be been charged by your Park Owner, then you can look to recover those payments
